California DMV License Suspension
In California, the legal system surrounding DUIs has two layers: criminal and Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). You have the right to request a Los Angeles DMV hearing within 10 days of receipt of notice of suspension or revocation. Once you pay a reissue fee and the time of the suspension or revocation has passed, you may re-obtain your license.
Some immediate suspensions apply. For example, if your blood or breath alcohol test showed a blood alcohol content (BAC) of 0.08% or more, your license is immediately suspended for four months on the first offense, one year in a second offense or offense occurring within ten years of a prior offense. In addition, your license may be immediately suspended if you refuse to take a blood alcohol content test.
